A day after announcing their new tool, AI classifier, OpenAI has another novelty in store for us – a subscription plan for ChatGPT, called ChatGPT Plus.
ChatGPT plus is currently available only in the US for $20/month. The main benefits of the paid plan are faster responses, access to the tool even during peak times (no more reading rap songs about the status of ChatGPT!) and priority access to all future improvements and new features.
If you’re not US-based, don’t worry, as the company plans to expand their access to ChatGPT Plus to other countries as well.
Will ChatGPT Plus replace the free version
Don’t worry, the free version of ChatGPT will remain free, and as it is:
“We love our free users and will continue to offer free access to ChatGPT. By offering this subscription pricing, we will be able to help support free access to as many people as possible.”
OpenAI official announcement
ChatGPT marked a milestone of 100 million users in January, just two months after its launch, which can give this tool the title of the fastest-growing internet tool ever. According to data from Similarweb, ChatGPT had around 590 million visits just last month.
With that amount of traffic and users, it’s easy to understand why we get access denied because the tool is at its full capacity and why it takes longer for the chatbot to reply to our questions.
But for those willing to pay the subscription, ChatGPT Plus is the solution to those problems.
Sneak peek into OpenAI’s plans ChatGPT
Besides continuous improvements based on users’ feedback, looking into more options for paid plans that will have a lower price tag, OpenAI is soon launching a waitlist for ChatGPT API.
What this means is that companies will be able to use ChatGPT API to build new tools, or upgrade existing products by expanding their capabilities. So it’s safe to say we will be seeing a lot more writing tools on the market in a near future!
